Półzanurzalny monitor/pancernik

 To chyba jeden z najbardziej niecodziennych projektów okrętów wojennych, jakie kiedykolwiek powstały. Ideą jednostki, zaproponowanej w grudniu 1920 r. przez inż. Solianiego ze stoczni Ansaldo, było osiągnięcie dużej odporności na ogień artyleryjski poprzez… maksymalne schowanie kadłuba pod wodą. Okręt, mający i tak wyjątkowo niską wolną burtę, przed przystąpieniem do bitwy miał przyjąć odpowiedni balast wodny, który zwiększał jego zanurzenie i powodował, że nad powierzchnie wystawały by tylko wieże działowe, stanowisko dowodzenia i dziobowe podwyższenie kadłuba. Rozwiązanie to miało pozwolić na obniżenie kosztów poprzez oszczędności na masie pancerza, a więc i wyporności jednostki. Oczywistą wadą byłaby marna dzielność morska na codzień, oraz zdolność do podjęcia walki w przypadku większego falowania morza. Projektowi wytykano też niewielką prędkość (w stanie wynurzonym 18 w., po przyjęciu balastu – z pewnością jeszcze mniej) i mały zapas pływalności, wskutek czego nie był dalej rozwijany. Ale z pewnością był na tyle niecodzienny, że warto go przypomnieć ;)

Rosyjskie wieżowe pancerniki obrony wybrzeża

 U progu lat 60-tych XIX w. w składzie floty rosyjskiej uchowało się jeszcze kilka okrętów żaglowych, które w związku z rewolucją jaka zaszła w latach 50-tych i 60-tych w budownictwie okrętowym (wprowadzenie napędu śrubowego i opancerzenia okrętów) zostały praktycznie zdeklasowane przez nowsze jednostki. Wśród tych żaglowców były m.in. 4 fregaty 58-działowe, powstałe w wyniku przebudowy („obcięcia”, „ostrzyżenia”) dwupokładowych okrętów liniowych. Wśród nich były okręty Narwa (z 1846 r.) i Sisoj Wielkij (z 1849 r.), zbudowane jako 74-działowe dwupokładowce typu Iezekiił i w 1855 r. przebudowane na fregaty poprzez zdjęcie najwyżej położonych partii kadłuba. W nowej formie okręty służyły do 1863 r., po czym zostały wycofane. Wpadł mi do głowy pomysł dalszego wykorzystania ich kadłubów. Przebudowa objęła wymianą najbardziej przegniłych partii poszycia kadłuba i dalszą redukcję jego wysokości – zdjęto wszystkie  fragmenty powyżej dotychczasowego ciągłego pokładu działowego. Zniknęły z niego oczywiście wszystkie dotychczasowe działa, zamiast których zamontowano 4 ciężkie gładkolufowe działa odprzodowe Dahlgrena o wagomiarze 124 funtów i kalibrze 254 mm, rozmieszczone w dwóch wieżach działowych (działa Dahlgrena były produkowane przez Rosjan na licencji od 1864 r. w fabryce w Pietrozawodsku).  
Oczywiście, okręty otrzymały pancerz żelazny – na burcie zamontowano płyty o grubości 140 mm, zaś wieże otrzymały opancerzenie 127 mm zarówno od czoła jak i z boku.
Co równie oczywiste, okręty otrzymały napęd mechaniczny w postaci maszyny parowej o mocy 1700 KM, napędzającej pojedynczą śrubę. Zlikwidowano także całe dotychczasowe omasztowanie i ożaglowanie, które z racji przewidywanego sposobu wykorzystania okrętów – działania na przybrzeżnych wodach Morza Bałtyckiego – nie wydawało się być już potrzebne.

Wielki krążownik hiszpański

 17 czerwca 1937 r. na pokładzie hiszpańskiego pancernika Jaime I doszło do eksplozji amunicji , w wyniku czego okręt zatonął na płytkiej wodzie (miało to miejsce w porcie Cartagena). Do końca wojny okręt nie został zdemontowany i w końcu zajęły się tym władze frankistowskie. Pojawił się wtedy pomysł wykorzystania ocalałej głównej artylerii okrętu, czyli 6 dział kal. 305 mm, do budowy nowego okrętu – wielkiego krążownika.  Miałby to być okręt o wyporności rzędu 17500-19000 ton standard, długości ponad 220 m i rozwijający dużą prędkość (sugerowano nawet 35-37 w.). Uzbrojenie miało się składać z 6 wspomnianych dział, w układzie 2xIII lub 3xII, ale rozważano też inne opcje – np. montaż 12 brytyjskich dział 203 mm w trzylufowych wieżach (ten wariant miał mieć 17500 ton), albo wejście we współpracę z Niemcami i zainstalowanie 6 ichniejszych dział kal. 280 mm zdjętych z pancerników typu Scharnhorst w przypadku ich ewentualnego przezbrojenia, , albo dział kal. 330 mm (zapewne również w ilości 6 szt.) pochodzących z pancernika Dunkerque. Oczywiście, w warunkach wojennych te plany były mało realne, więc jako najprawdopodobniejsza wydała mi się opcja wykorzystania  posiadanej już artylerii, i to w oryginalnych dwudziałowych wieżach, które wg znanej mi ikonografii nie zostały istotnie uszkodzone w wypadku w Cartagenie. Dlatego też ten wariant prezentuję poniżej.

Alternatywna wersja pancernika Dunderberg

 W lipcu 1865 r. Amerykanie zwodowali niecodzienny okręt – drewniany pancernik kazamatowy Dunderberg. Jednostka ta w zasadzie była pełnomorską wersją różnych małych, improwizowanych „pancerników” kazamatowych z czasów wojny secesyjnej, licznie budowanych do działań na wodach przybrzeżnych i śródlądowych. Z uwagi na zakończoną wojnę Dunderberg nie został przyjęty do służby w US Navy i w 1867 r. sprzedano go do… Francji, gdzie teoretycznie służył do 1872 r. pod nazwą Rochambeau, ale mało co faktycznie pływał i w 1874 r. został rozebrany.
Inspiracją do tego posta stała się informacja, że w pierwotnej postaci okręt miał zupełnie inaczej wyglądać. Otóż, planowano uzbroić go w 4 ciężkie gładkolufowe, odprzodowe działa Dahlgrena kal. 15 cali (381 mm), co w nomenklaturze stosowanej dla dział gładkolufowych oznaczało działa 450-funtowe. Miały one zostać umieszczone w dwóch wieżach (zapewne systemu Ericssona), obłożonych aż 11-calowym pancerzem. Ponadto w kazamacie okręt miał posiadać dalszych 8 dział Dahlgrena, tym razem 11-calowych (279 mm) czyli 166-funtowych. Szczegóły wyglądu jednostki w tej konfiguracji nie są znane (przynajmniej ja na żadną grafikę nie trafiłem) stąd rysunek jest moją spekulacją opartą na sylwetce prawdziwego Dunderberga. Założyłem, że wieże zostaną umieszczone po jednej na dziobie i na rufie, a dla zrobienia im miejsca, centralna kazamata zostanie nieco skrócona. Wymusiło to lekkie korekty w rozmieszczeniu omasztowania, ale poza tym większych zmian udało się uniknąć. Okręt wygląda dość ciekawie, mnie się nawet podoba, nawet jeśli trzeba się liczyć z jego nienadzwyczajnymi własnościami morskimi.

Mały pancernik dla Mandżukuo

 Dziś pierwszy z „małych” pancerników Hiragi. O okrętach tych dyskutowaliśmy przy okazji wariantu „pełnowymiarowego” dla Japonii (post z 6 lipca). Tym razem prezentuję wariant 20.000-tonowy z 9 działami 305 mm dla floty Mandżukuo. Pomysł to z pewnością kontrowersyjny, ale w sumie możliwy do wyobrażenia. Z tym zastrzeżeniem, że przynależność do floty Mandużukuo była by do pewnego stopnia fikcyjna – okręt może i byłby przez Chińczyków sfinansowany i obsadzony, ale operacyjnie byłby podporządkowany dowództwu japońskiemu. Mandżukuo bowiem de facto nie miało potrzeby posiadania pancernika (może poza względami prestiżowo-propagandowymi), ale można sobie wyobrazić, że taki okręt stanowiłby jakieś wzmocnienie floty japońskiej, bez formalnego naruszania w czasie pokoju postanowień traktatów rozbrojeniowych.
