W 1912 r. niejaki William Beardmore zaproponował Admiralicji, bodaj jako pierwszy na świecie, zbudowanie od podstaw lotniskowca. Miał to być niecodzienny okręt, pod pewnymi względami (zwłaszcza przez posiadanie ciągłego pokładu lotniczego na całej długości kadłuba, oraz hangaru poniżej, połączonych windą do podnoszenia samolotów) wyprzedzający swoją epokę. Z drugiej strony – projekt przewidywał też dość kontrowersyjne rozwiązanie w postaci dwóch nadbudówek (po jednej na każdej z burt), każda z kominem i masztem, połączone ze sobą mostkiem z kabiną nawigacyjną. Ta właśnie cecha była być może powodem odrzucenia projektu – gdyż było wielce prawdopodobne, że dwie nadbudówki powodowały by niebezpieczne dla ówczesnych lekkich samolotów zawirowania nad pokładem rufowym, czyli w strefie lądowania. Niemniej – jednostka wygląda nader interesująco ;)

Szybka fregata dla Royal Navy
Dzisiejszy projekt stanowi próbę skonstruowania w realiach lat 70-tych XIX w. okrętu przeznaczonego do zadań krążowniczych, istotnie szybszego niż ówczesne pancerniki. Wydawało by się, że fakt, że okręty innych klas są szybsze od pancerników powinien być oczywisty, ale w tamtym czasie tak nie było. Osiągi pancerników i ówczesnych krążowników pancernych czyli de facto słabszych pancerników, a nawet jednostek nieopancerzonych w zasadzie wiele się nie różniły. Stawiało to pod poważnym znakiem zapytania wykorzystanie tych ostatnich w działaniach floty, skoro nie mogły uciec przed jednostkami zdolnymi z łatwością je zniszczyć. Pomyślałem, że warto by spróbować coś z tym fantem zrobić. Za minimum uznałem prędkość rzędu 18 w. Zgodnie z realiami epoki (duże zużycie węgla przez ówczesne maszyny parowe!), okręt powinien posiadać jeszcze ożaglowanie, jeśli nie pełne rejowe to przynajmniej częściowe.
Pożądana prędkość, przy ówczesnym poziomie techniki, implikuje wielką wagę urządzeń napędowych. Stąd niezbyt pokaźne uzbrojenie (4x229, 10x178, 2x160) oraz praktyczny brak opancerzenia przy znacznych rozmiarach, bo długości 123 m i wyporności 7600 ton. W sumie, powstał okręt niezwykle kosztowny, ale o nieporażających walorach bojowych. Z tego zapewne względu, faktycznie nic podobnego nie wybudowano. Na szczęście nas tu ograniczenia budżetowe specjalnie nie obowiązują, więc możemy sobie zobaczyć, jakby taki okręt mógł wyglądać.

Krążownik eskortowy
Poniższy okręt wymyśliłem rozważając możliwą reakcję Royal Navy na niemieckie mini-lotniskowce opisane w poście z 8 lutego. Klasyfikację należy oczywiście traktować czysto umownie. Okręt w założeniu ma być eskortowcem o rozmiarach większych niż rzeczywiście budowane niszczyciele eskortowe i fregaty i pod względem artyleryjskim ciężej od nich uzbrojonym, ale o rozmiarach na tyle ograniczonych, że możliwa była by seryjna produkcja tego typu okrętów. Przyjęty limit wyporności wyniósł 2000 ton. W takim limicie oczywiście nie ma co liczyć na jakieś poważniejsze opancerzenie, jeśli uzbrojenie, prędkość i zasięg mają być przyzwoite. Poza tym – koszty wytworzenia pancerza z prawdziwego zdarzenia kłócą się z ideą masowej produkcji. Ostatecznie zdecydowałem się na cienką osłonę burt, chroniącą rejon kotłowni i maszynowni co najwyżej przed odłamkami, nie koniecznie nawet wykonaną ze stali pancernej. Co do uzbrojenia – zakładam, że występowało by w wielu wariantach. Dla prototypu wybrałem 4 działa 152 mm L/45 model 1913, pochodzące z przebudowanych krążowników lekkich typu C. Ale w przypadku liczniejszej budowy takich okrętów, dopuszczam możliwość zastosowania wszystkich możliwych dział jakie tyko by się udało zgromadzić – od 102 mm, przez 114 mm, 120 mm, po 140 mm. To uzbrojenie główne uzupełniają stosunkowo liczne działka plot., oraz rufowe zrzutnie bomb głębinowych.

Monitor dla Ekwadoru
Dziś łyk egzotyki z XIX w. – a konkretnie 2 monitory dla Ekwadoru, przeznaczone do działania na wodach zatoki Guayaquil, tworzącej akwen o dość urozmaiconej linii brzegowej, usiany dodatkowo licznymi wyspami, co tworzy całkiem dogodne warunki do defensywnych działań takich niewielkich okrętów artyleryjskich. Wody zatoki stanowią podejście do największego miasta i portu morskiego w kraju, zatem wzmocnienie obrony w tym rejonie, u schyłku XIX w. nader mizernej, jest jak najbardziej zasadne. Oczywiście, jako kraj mały i biedny, Ekwador nie mógłby pozwolić sobie na jakieś bardziej imponujące jednostki (realnie, największymi jego okrętami w tym czasie były 2 parowo-żaglowe, 877-tonowe awiza Papin i Inconstant z 1886 r.). Za realne uznałem zbudowanie 2 monitorów liczących sobie 2300 ton, i uzbrojonych w 2 działa kal. 254 mm w pojedynczej wieży, z opancerzeniem grubości 240 mm obliczonym na zabezpieczenie witaliów przed ogniem wrogich krążowników, oraz prędkością 12,5 w.

Japoński pomocniczy okręt przeciwlotniczy
Jednostka będąca „bohaterem” dzisiejszego posta to autentyczny japoński frachtowiec – pasażersko-towarowy Amagisan Maru zbudowany w 1933 r. należący do armatora Mitsui Line, w 1941 r. przejęty przez flotę i przebudowany na transportowiec. Ja postanowiłem zaadaptować go do roli pomocniczej jednostki przeciwlotniczej. Założenie przebudowy jest takie, że statek ma zachować zdolności transportowe, a jednocześnie ma stanowić istotne wzmocnienie ochrony konwoju w składzie którego płynie. Okazało się to dość karkołomnym zadaniem, głównie z uwagi na trudności w racjonalnym rozlokowaniu artylerii, która nie może zbytnio kolidować z funkcją transportową statku. Udało mi się rozmieścić na nim 8 dział kal. 120 mm i 39 kal. 25 mm. Zastosowane armaty są typowe dla floty japońskiej w czasie DWS. Działa kal. 120 mm L/45 z 1921 r. (shiki10), używane były na wielu okrętach (lotniskowce, krążowniki) jako ciężka artyleria plot., zaś w potrójne zestawy dział kal. 25 mm z 1935 r., były uzbrojone chyba wszystkie japońskie okręty w tym czasie.

Rumuńskie pancerniki obrony wybrzeża
Polepszenie się sytuacji gospodarczej w Rumunii w latach 90-tych XIX w. pozwoliło rozpocząć temu państwu duży program zbrojeniowy, który obejmował także rozbudowę floty. Plan dla sił morskich z 1899 r. przewidywał m.in. budowę 6 pancerników obrony wybrzeża po 3500 ton, 4 niszczycieli po 300 ton i 12 torpedowców po 80 lub 130 ton. Ponadto planowano budowę 8 monitorów i 12 torpedowców na Dunaj. Z tego wszystkiego udało się zbudować tylko część jednostek rzecznych.
Poniższy typ pancerników stanowi wariantową realizację powyższych planów, w przypadku zlecenia budowy pancerników stocznio austro-węgierskim. Zamiast 6 okrętów po 3500 ton (i szacowanym uzbrojeniu w 2x240/4x203 i 4x150) mamy 3 jednostki po 6500 ton uzbrojone w 4x240 i 8x150. W zasadzie są to nieco zmodyfikowane i powiększone jednostki austro-węgierskiego typu Monarch, wyglądem nawiązujące może nawet bardziej do nieco nowszych i większych pancerników typu Habsburg. W stosunku do swoich protoplastów odznaczają się bardziej kompaktowymi nadbudówkami, dodatkową parą dział 150 mm w kazamatach na śródokręciu, silniejszym uzbrojeniem przeciwko torpedowcom (znacznie większa ilość dział kal. 66 mm) i lepszym opancerzeniem (pancerz Kruppa zamiast stali niklowej, cieńszy ale o większej wytrzymałości). Uzbrojenie główne pozostało bez zmian i obejmuje 4 działa 240 mm L/40 w podwójnych wieżach. Ponieważ typ Monarch uchodził za udane jednostki, to ufam, że i te powinny się okazać przynajmniej niezłe. A już na pewno są ładne ;)

Poniższy typ pancerników stanowi wariantową realizację powyższych planów, w przypadku zlecenia budowy pancerników stocznio austro-węgierskim. Zamiast 6 okrętów po 3500 ton (i szacowanym uzbrojeniu w 2x240/4x203 i 4x150) mamy 3 jednostki po 6500 ton uzbrojone w 4x240 i 8x150. W zasadzie są to nieco zmodyfikowane i powiększone jednostki austro-węgierskiego typu Monarch, wyglądem nawiązujące może nawet bardziej do nieco nowszych i większych pancerników typu Habsburg. W stosunku do swoich protoplastów odznaczają się bardziej kompaktowymi nadbudówkami, dodatkową parą dział 150 mm w kazamatach na śródokręciu, silniejszym uzbrojeniem przeciwko torpedowcom (znacznie większa ilość dział kal. 66 mm) i lepszym opancerzeniem (pancerz Kruppa zamiast stali niklowej, cieńszy ale o większej wytrzymałości). Uzbrojenie główne pozostało bez zmian i obejmuje 4 działa 240 mm L/40 w podwójnych wieżach. Ponieważ typ Monarch uchodził za udane jednostki, to ufam, że i te powinny się okazać przynajmniej niezłe. A już na pewno są ładne ;)

Mini lotniskowiec
W 1942 r. niejaki dr Heinrich Drager wysunął propozycję budowanego masowo mini-lotniskowca przeznaczonego głównie do działań korsarskich na Oceanie Atlantyckim. Swym pomysłem usiłował zainteresować dowództwo Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe, a w końcu nawet SS (!), ostatecznie bez skutku. Projekt przewidywał jednostkę zaledwie 3500-tonową, o długości nieco przekraczającej 100 m i pokładzie lotniczym o wymiarach z grubsza 90 m na 17 m., wyposażonym w liny hamujące i trzy windy do podnoszenia samolotów z hangaru. Na dziobie przewidziano pojedynczą katapultę. Hangar miał pomieścić do 4 samolotów Ju-87 w wariancie morskim (torpedowo-bombowym ze składanymi skrzydłami oraz 2 myśliwce Bf-109, zaś trzeci myśliwiec miał być przewożony na pokładzie. Projekt zakładał silniki o mocy 9000 KM, ale nie ustalonego typu. Analiza różnych wizualizacji jednostki ni wykazała posiadania przez nią żadnych kominów, założyłem więc że możliwym źródłem napędu mógł być silnik diesla, którego wyloty spalin mogły być bardzo dyskretne (a może wręcz skierowane pod wodę, bo i takie rozwiązanie ponoć wymyślono), przy czym springsharp oszacował moc na nieco ponad 7600 KM. Zasięg okrętu miał wynosić 4000 Mm przy prędkości maksymalnej (19 w.) i aż 14000 Mm przy prędkości ekonomicznej 9 w.
Jednostki pomyślano jako alternatywę dla u-bootów i dużych okrętów nawodnych pełniących funkcje korsarskie. Mniejsze rozmiary i nieskomplikowana konstrukcja umożliwiały budowę w małych stoczniach w krajach okupowanych (podczas gdy rodzime zajęte były budową u-bootów). Miała to być produkcja niemal seryjna – pomysłodawca zakładał wybudowanie w latach 1943-1944 aż 100 (!) jednostek , przy czym pierwsze miały być gotowe już na wiosnę 1943 r.
Taktyką tych okrętów miało być głównie zwalczanie wrogiej żeglugi (głównie na Atlantyku ale nie tylko) w ramach dużych zespołów liczących 20-50 jednostek. Zamierzano je wykorzystywać także jako transportowce wojska (bez ciężkiego sprzętu) bądź jednostki zapewniające rozpoznanie z powietrza. Dodatkowo, miały być zbudowane w sposób umożliwiający ich łatwą konwersję na jednostki handlowe w czasie pokoju.
Pomimo iż pomysłodawca wymyślił sobie że jednostek będzie aż 100, nie starczyło mi pomysłowości i cierpliwości do wymyślania aż tylu nazw;) Poprzestałem na 12 jednostkach, noszących swe miana od nazwisk słynnych asów z czasów obydwu wojen światowych.
