Zdobyty w Duali pancernik obrony wybrzeża Odin został
odholowany do Monrowii, gdzie poddano go prowizorycznej naprawie zespołu
napędowego. Ze zdezelowanych maszyn udało się uzyskać tyle mocy, że okręt jest
w stanie poruszać się z prędkością 12 w. Chwilowo żadnych innych prac na jednostce nie
prowadzono. Formalnie okręt wcielono do floty pod niezmienioną (a jedynie
spolszczoną) nazwą, jako pływającą baterię mającą wzmocnić obronę wybrzeża
Nowej Kurlandii lub Togo – w zależności od bieżących potrzeb. Kiedy
niebezpieczeństwo ze strony niemieckiej floty minie, zamierzałem okręt
zredukować do roli hulka, albo jakiejś jednostki pomocniczej. Ale że pod
poprzednim postem dyskusja rozwinęła się tak pięknie (co mam nadzieję, będziemy
tu kontynuować;)) to okręt zostanie wysłany do Wielkiej Brytanii albo Francji celem
przebudowy i współdziałania z flotą brytyjską w akcjach u wybrzeży Flandrii.
