W latach 30-tych, najprawdopodobniej w ramach przetargu z 1933 r., francuska stocznia Ateliers et Chantiers de la Loire zaoferowała PMW budowę dużych niszczycieli opartych na projekcie typu Le Fantasque. Okręt miał być uzbrojony w 5 dział 130 mm, 2 pom-pomy 40 mm, 3 podwójne km-y Hotchkissa i 2 potrójne wyrzutnie torped kal. 550 mm. Oferta została odrzucona jako zbyt droga. Biorąc jednak pod uwagę osiągnięcia francuskiej szkoły budowy niszczycieli, była to być może szansa uzyskania nadzwyczaj szybkich jednostek. Najlepiej oceniony projekt we wspomnianym przetargu przewidywał okręt o wyporności 1950 ton (nie wiadomo jakiej, ale zakładam że standard). Postanowiłem się więc zabawić, sprawdzając jakie osiągi udało by się w tej wyporności uzyskać. Symulacja pozwoliła a uzyskać prędkość na poziomie 37 w., czyli niby bez rewelacji, ale akurat francuskie niszczyciele potrafiły osiągać znacznie większe prędkości, niż projektowane. Np. oryginalny typ Le Fantasque miał mieć 37 w., a na próbach bodaj wszystkie jednostki przekroczyły 42 w., w rekordzista - Le Terrible – rozpędził się nawet do 45 w. (!) Zatem zakładam, że Orkany też były by zdolne osiągnąć w sprzyjających warunkach dobrze powyżej 40 w.
