Pancernik wieżowy Suworow (1880)



Po wybudowaniu pancernika Pietr Wielikij (wod. 1872, w sł. 1876, 10406t, 4x305, 14 w.) Rosjanie na ponad dekadę zaprzestali budowy pełnomorskich pancerników. Kolejnym typem okrętu tej klasy były dopiero pancerniki typu Jekatierina II, z których pierwsze dwa zwodowano dopiero w 1886 r., a do służby weszły dopiero w 1889 r.! Dzisiejszy okręt stanowi propozycję zapełnienia tej „luki pokoleniowej”. Jest to jednostka w modnej w latach 70-tych i 80-tych XIX w. konfiguracji (m.in. Duilio, Inflexible) – z artylerią ciężką zgrupowaną w dwóch wieżach rozmieszczonych diagonalnie na śródokręciu, co ma zapewnić przynajmniej teoretyczną możliwość prowadzenia ognia z czterech dział w każdym z czterech kierunków. Dzięki takim jednostkom flota rosyjska zdobyła by niepodważalny prymat na obydwu z akwenów będących wówczas w orbicie jej zainteresowania, tj. na Bałtyku i Morzu Czarnym. Natomiast nieco żartobliwie można, przez analogię do niemieckich pancerników typu Sachsen domniemywać, że okręt ten zdobyłby sobie miano „carskiej fabryki cementu”  :)

Pancernik Cunibertiego



Główny konstruktor włoskiej marynarki wojennej, płk. Vittorio Cuniberti był jednym z prekursorów instalowania na pancernikach artylerii głównej o zunifikowanym kalibrze. Pierwszy projekt takiego okrętu przedstawił on już w 1902 r., jednakże nie zdobył on wówczas uznania dowództwa rodzimej floty, która zamiast tak nowatorskiej jednostki, wolała zamówić kolejne dwa okręty typu Regina Elena (12.500 ton, 2 x305, 12x203, pb 250, 21-22 w.), od których zresztą projekt pancernika monokalibrowego Cunibertiego w prostej linii się wywodził. Ponieważ u siebie Cuniberti nie zyskał uznania,  przedstawił on swoją ideę w słynnym artykule "An ideal Battleship for the British Navy", który zamieszczono w brytyjskim roczniku Jane’s Fighting Ships z 1903 r. Proponował on w nim budowę takiej jednostki przez Royal Navy. Postulowany okręt miał mieć 17.000 ton wyporności, uzbrojenie składające się z 12 dział 305 mm w 8 wieżach (4 podwójne i 4 pojedyncze), pancerz burtowy 305 mm i do tego osiągać 24 w.! Już na pierwszy rzut oka jest jasne, że takie parametry są niemożliwe do spełnienia, a symulacja w springsharpie tylko to potwierdza – zakładane parametry (oprócz prędkości!) udało się uzyskać dopiero przy wyporności ponad 21.000 ton. Żeby mieć 24 w., trzeba by mieć pewnie z 25.000 ton. Aż dziw bierze, że takie dane przyjął – jakby nie patrzeć -  zawodowy konstruktor okrętów! Można się tylko domyślać, że artykuł nie był poparty żadnymi obliczeniami, a autor nie traktował ich jako szczegółowe dane jakimi ma się charakteryzować przyszła jednostka, tylko chciał zaprezentował ogólny pomysł, ideę. Moja wizja pancernika Cunibertiego (pod flagą włoską jednak) wygląda tak jak to przedstawia raport ze Springsharpa. (rysunek i „zdjęcia” tym razem nie moje, a zapożyczone bodajże z forum shipbucket i bloga dreadnought-cruisers)

Pancernik Salamis



Na fali morskiego wyścigu zbrojeń, jaki się rozpętał w Europie przed Pierwszą Wojną Światową, a także bezpośredniej rywalizacji z odwiecznym przeciwnikiem – Turcją, swojego drednota zapragnęła posiadać również Grecja.  Okręt, o nazwie Vasilefs Georgios (później Salamis) został zamówiony w lipcu 1912 r. jako jednostka 13.500-tonowa , uzbrojona w 6 dział 356 mm i 8 – 152 mm i mająca prędkość 21 w. De facto było to coś pośredniego pomiędzy predrednotem, a drednotem z prawdziwego zdarzenia. Wobec jednak zamówienia nowoczesnych drednotów przez Turcję (typ Resadiye – 23.000 ton, 10x343, liczący trzy jednostki, z których dwie zostały zamówione już w 1911 r., a jeden zmaterializował się ostatecznie pod postacią HMS Erin)  Grecy uznali, że jednostka w takim kształcie będzie niewystarczająca. Zmodyfikowano więc plany, najpierw optując za okrętem 16.500-tonowym, ostatecznie decydując o budowie jednostki o wyporności 19.500 ton, z pancerzem burtowym 250 mm i prędkością 23 w., uzbrojonej  w 8 dział 356 mm i 12 dział 152 mm.
Ogólnie pancernik prezentuje sobą typ charakterystyczny dla mniejszych flot, które często przedkładały prędkość i duże działa ponad solidne opancerzenie (duże działa widać, grubości pancerza – nie..). Tak też jest i w tym przypadku – jest to przykład bodaj najmniejszego z zaprojektowanych pancerników mających nieść działa kal. 356 mm, prędkością przewyższa znakomitą  większość innych okrętów tej klasy, zaś skalą opancerzenia bardziej przypomina krążownik liniowy niż pancernik. Stąd też zdarza się go czasami określać jako krążownik liniowy, choć moim zdaniem zdecydowanie do tej klasy, przez zbyt niską prędkość, nie przynależy.
Budowę okrętu zlecono stoczni AG Vulcan w Hamburgu (pierwotnie okręt miał być ponoć budowany w Szczecinie), ale uzbrojenie – działa 356 mm i 152 mm, barbety a prawdopodobnie także wieże miały być dostarczone przez firmę Bethlehem Steel ze Stanów Zjednoczonych.  Stępkę pod okręt położono w lipcu 1913 r., a wodowanie nastąpiło w listopadzie 1914 r. Trwająca wojna uniemożliwiła dokończenie okrętu i jego dostarczenie Grecji, co według kontraktu miało nastąpić w 1915 r. Gdyby okręt został ukończony według pierwotnych zamierzeń, mógłby wyglądać mniej więcej tak:

Niemiecki niszczyciel



W niemieckiej doktrynie przed Pierwszą Wojną Światową niszczyciele były uważane za okręty towarzyszące flocie liniowej i służące głownie do atakowania wrogich sił za pomocą torped, które były ich główną bronią, (co znajdowało odzwierciedlenie także w ich oficjalnej klasyfikacji – Hochseetorpedoboote lub Grosse Torpedoboote) w przeciwieństwie do np. Brytyjczyków, którzy bardziej akcentowali defensywną ich rolę wobec własnej floty liniowej. Stąd w Niemczech mniejszą uwagę zwracano na uzbrojenie artyleryjskie niszczycieli, które było zwykle znacząco słabsze od ich zagranicznych odpowiedników. Przykładowo, okręty o wyporności ponad 1.000 ton często miewały za głowne uzbrojanie artyleryjskie działa kalibru ledwie 88 mm, podczas gdy u Brytyjczyków standardem były 4 cale (102 mm). Tak było m.in. z okrętami typu B 97 czy G 101, zbudowanymi co prawda na zagraniczne zamówienia, ale służące początkowo w kajzerowskiej flocie z działami 88 mm. Dopiero pod wpływem doświadczeń wojennych Niemcy zaczęli zmieniać uzbrojenie na cięższe (działa 105 mm), a nawet zbudowali niszczyciel S 113, który za uzbrojenie artyleryjskie miała 4 działa 150 mm! Zanim to jednak nastąpiło, flota niemiecka odczuwała pewien brak dużych niszczycieli, które zapewniały by efektywną  ochronę własnych sił głównych przed atakiem torpedowym. Próbą zaradzenia tego jest poniższy okręt. Generalnie jest to powiększona i silniej uzbrojona wersja typu B 97.  Dla zwalczania wrogich niszczycieli ma silną artylerię, składającą się z 1 działa 150 mm i 4 dział 105 mm, i niezbyt  wyżyłowaną prędkość – ma bowiem raczej odpędzać niż gonić wrogie jednostki. W wypełnianiu stawianych mu zadań sądzę, że spisałby się całkiem dobrze.
