Rewolucja w budownictwie okrętowym, jaka zaszła w latach 60-tych XIX w., polegająca na wprowadzeniu opancerzenia okrętów, zastała flotę szwedzką w stanie głębokiego upadku i przeszła w niej początkowo w zasadzie niezauważona.

W sumie takie konwersje były by skomplikowane, długotrwałe i kosztowne, a przez to – w dobie wyścigu w budowaniu drednotów – w moim odczuciu dość mało realne. Zatem przebudowa mogła by się ograniczyć do stosunkowo prostych do zrealizowania zmian w uzbrojeniu i opancerzeniu.
W ich ramach zdjęto z okrętów wszystkie wieże dział kal. 203 mm. Przynajmniej mnie trudno było by to sobie wyobrazić. Pokład pancerny był bowiem schowany głęboko w kadłubie, praktycznie na wysokości linii wodnej i skosami schodził do dolnej krawędzi pancerza burtowego. Zatem stan opancerzenia poziomego pozostał bez zmian.

Przynajmniej mnie trudno było by to sobie wyobrazić. Pokład pancerny był bowiem schowany głęboko w kadłubie, praktycznie na wysokości linii wodnej i skosami schodził do dolnej krawędzi pancerza burtowego. Zatem stan opancerzenia poziomego pozostał bez zmian.

Kolejny okręt to chwilowy powrót do historii alternatywnego Królestwa Polskiego w XIX w. Do przenoszenia takiej artylerii powstał niniejszy okręt – średniej wielkości krążownik pancernopokładowy, nieco „francuski” w kształtach (dziób a’la Dupuy de Lome, dośrodkowe pochylenie burt), słabo uzbrojony w artylerię klasyczną (3 działa Caneta kal. Zapraszam do dyskusji :)
