Dziś na chwilę wracam do czasów przedwojennych, kontynuując
prezentację okrętów floty niemieckiej, które w rzeczywistości nie powstały, a
są w jej składzie w mojej historii alternatywnej. Tym razem są to dwa krążowniki
pancernopokładowe, będące modyfikacją typu Gazelle. Jednostki nie różnią się od
nich wiele. Główną różnicą jest zmiana uzbrojenia – w miejsce 4 dział kal. 105
mm (na dziobie i na rufie), zamontowano 2 działa kal. 150 mm. Nie okazało się
to zmianą specjalnie korzystną dla takiej wielkości jednostek. Mimo zwiększenia
wyporności o ponad 200 ton nie udało się uzyskać parametrów lepszych niż na
typie Gazelle, a wręcz jest gorzej, np. jeśli chodzi o prędkość. Takie
uzbrojenie okazuje się być po prostu zbyt ciężkie dla okrętów poniżej 3000 ton,
o ile mają się przy tym cechować dobrą prędkością i własnościami żeglugowymi.
Stąd okręty te należy uznać za ślepą odnogę ewolucji niemieckich krążowników –
kolejny typ, podobnie jak w rzeczywistości, ma na uzbrojeniu ponownie same działa kal.
