Pod koniec XIX w., po przegranej wojnie z Japonią, w Chinach pojawiły się plany odbudowy floty wojennej. W 1896 r., francuski projektant Charles Doyere przedstawił rządowi chińskiemu dwa projekty pancerników obrony wybrzeża. Mniejszy przewidywał okręt o wyporności 2900 ton, a większy – 5600 ton. Znane są tylko rzuty boczne tych okrętów oraz jeden artykuł po… chińsku, który mimo użycia translatora wiele szczegółów nie przekazuje. Coś niecoś da się wywnioskować z rysunku. Okręt większy, który wziąłem na warsztat, zdaje się mieć francusko wyglądające kształty kadłuba, nieco podobne do typu Jemmapes i podobne chyba uzbrojenie w długolufowe działa 340 mm (lub 305 mm). Ma też artylerię mniejszego kalibru (164 mm?), również w wieżach. Z przodu okręt posiada maszt bojowy wzorowany na tym z Dupuy de Lome i innych krążowników francuskich, mieszczący najwyraźniej kilka lekkich działek przeciw torpedowcom. Okręt posiada dwa kominy i stosunkowo długie śródokręcie (obszar pomiędzy skrajnymi wieżami) co zdaje się sugerować znaczną moc napędu i prawdopodobnie relatywnie znaczną prędkość. Tyle wywnioskowałem z rysunku, reszta to już moja czysta fantazja, limitowana springsharpem ;)
