Flota polska w XIX w. - nowy pancernik kazamatowy



Czas na nowy pancernik:) Poniższa jednostka jest daleko idącym rozwinięciem okrętu który prezentowałem 17 października. Jest to zatem pancernik kazamatowy, uzbrojony w cięższe niż poprzednik działa kal. 279 mm, których przebijalność rzędu 288 mm stali z dystansu 2000 jardów powinna zapewnić możliwość penetracji pancerza wszystkich niemieckich pancerników aż do końca lat 70-tych XIX w. (nie wyłączając Koniga Wilhelma, który miał wprawdzie pancerz o grubości do 305 mm, ale tę grubość osiągał on tylko na znikomym fragmencie swojej powierzchni, a poza tym był wykonany z żelaza a nie stali, a więc o znacznie mniejszej wytrzymałości). Z kolei grubość własnego pancerza dobrałem tak, by zapewnić ochronę przed najcięższymi pociskami (kal. 240 mm) jakimi dysponował wówczas potencjalny nieprzyjaciel. Nie ukrywam że chciałem grubszego pancerza, tak by zabezpieczyć się również przed mającymi w przyszłości wejść do użytku jeszcze cięższymi działami, ale niestety – brakło już na to wyporności. Wygląda na to, że następny typ pancernika, aby mieć znacząco grubszy pancerz, będzie musiał się już obejść bez ożaglowania (bo na nie traci się sporo wyporności) i zapewne będzie wyposażony w wieże, zamiast dział w kazamatach czy bateriach burtowych…

Flota polska w XIX w. - korweta centralnobateryjna



Uzupełnieniem dla niedawno zbudowanych fregat z artylerią gwintowaną jest para nieco mniejszych korwet, również uzbrojonych w gwintowane, odtylcowe działa kal. 203 mm, choć oczywiście w mniejszej ilości. Nowe korwety są okrętami centralnobateryjnymi, co jest cechą raczej niespotykaną wśród jednostek nieopancerzonych, i dzięki temu, mimo małych rozmiarów niosą one stosunkowo ciężkie działa (ówcześnie budowane korwety niemieckie miały co najwyżej działa 150 mm, względnie 170mm – ale to już w drugiej połowie lat 70-tych).

Flota polska w XIX w. - opancerzony kuter minowy



A oto udoskonalony typ kutra minowego, inspirowany jednostką z czasów wojny secesyjnej – USS Spuyten Duyvil, i jak ona – nawet opancerzony! Dla dodatkowej ochrony, kadłub został schowany na ile się dało pod wodę, a nad powierzchnię wystaje tylko w minimalnym stopniu. Zaokrąglony pokład pancerny sprzyja rykoszetom pocisków, które przy niskich dystansach i płaskich torach lotów powinny trafiać pod małym kątem i na skutek tego odbijać się od niego.

Flota polska w XIX w. - kuter minowy

Dziś coś maleńkiego, ale będącego za to nowinką jak na lata 60-te XIX w. Chodzi mianowicie o kuter minowy (torpedowy?) czyli małą jednostkę której uzbrojeniem jest mina wytykowa (nazywanie tego typu uzbrojenia torpedą budzi mimo wszystko mój opór). oczywiście jest to jednostka której wykorzystanie bojowe jest barzdz ograniczone i sprowadza się w zasadzie jedynie do skrytego, niezauważonego podejścia do wrogiej jednostki, która pozostaje w bezruchu, i w żaden sposób nie przeciwdziała atakowi. A nawet jeśli atak się powiedzie, to będzie miał charakter w zasadzie samobójczy - bowiem jednostka musi podejść do celu na minimalną odległość.. Niemniej jednak wiele flot z takimi okręcikami eksperymentowało, uznałem więc, że i my powinniśmy mieć coś takiego:)

Flota polska w XIX w. - nowe fregaty



Wobec znacznego w latach 60-tych rozwoju pruskich sił krążowniczych (budowa 5 fregat typu Arcona, 2 korwet typu Nymphe i 2 korwet typu Augusta) koniecznym wydaje się zbudowanie analogicznych nowych jednostek dla naszej floty. Najpierw prezentuję fregatę – mająca na swoim uzbrojeniu, obok tradycyjnej artylerii gładkolufowej, także działa gwintowane, tworzące w całości główną baterię. Na tle pruskich odpowiedników , mających wówczas na uzbrojeniu co najwyżej gładko lufowe 68-funtówki (a nawet po ich przezbrojeniu w 1870 r. w gwintowane działa 150 mm), okręt prezentuje się bardzo korzystnie. Jest też od nich sporo szybszy (dopiero korweta Freya ukończona w 1876 r. będzie od pary naszych fregat szybsza, ale za to znacznie słabsza – bo na jej uzbrojenie składać się będzie z 8 dział 150 mm).

Flota polska w XIX w. - pancernik Kazimierz Wielki



Czas na rewolucję w polskiej flocie – a czymś takim z pewnością jest wprowadzenie do uzbrojenia gwintowanej artylerii odtylcowej. Dodajmy od razu – rewolucji nieco spóźnionej w stosunku do niektórych innych flot, które artylerię gwintowaną (odprzodową lub odtylcową) stosowały niejednokrotnie już od początku lat 60-tych. Na usprawiedliwienie przyjętej koncepcji uzbrajania naszych okrętów mam dwa argumenty. Jeden związany jest z niedoskonałością wczesnych dział gwintowanych, które w wielu aspektach (zwłaszcza prędkości wylotowej, mającej największy wpływ na zdolność działa do penetracji pancerza) ustępowały doskonalonym od stuleci działom gładkolufowym i dopiero gdzieś w drugiej połowie lat 60-tych dogoniły je pod tym względem. Drugim argumentem jest historyczny fakt, że Marynarka Wojenna Rosji działa gwintowane wprowadziła gdzieś około 1867 r., a w założonych w naszej historii alternatywnej uwarunkowaniach trudno wyobrazić sobie inne źródło zaopatrzenia w nowoczesną artylerię, niż Rosja. Na własny przemysł mogący wytwarzać nowoczesne działa chyba jest jeszcze nieco za wcześnie.    
Pierwszą jednostką wyposażoną w nowy rodzaj artylerii jest pancernik kazamatowy, z jakże właściwą nazwą, stanowiącą powrót do „królewskiej” tradycji nazywania pancerników w hipotetycznej flocie polskiej. Kilka słów o jednostce: grubość opancerzenia – 225 mm jest tak dobrana by zapewnić ochronę przed pociskami kalibru 210 mm, które według stanu na 1868 r. były najcięższym uzbrojeniem pancerników pruskich. Z kolei przebijalność własnych dział kal. 229 mm została przeze mnie obliczona na ok. 240 mm z dystansu 2000 jardów (ok. 1800 m), co zapewnić powinno możliwość swobodnego przebijania pancerzy wrogich jednostek. Oczywiście, wyścig pancerza i dział trwa nadal i te wyliczenia nieco się wkrótce zdezaktualizują, bo w 1869 r. wejdzie do służby pruski pancernik Konig Wilhelm (10591 ton, 18x240, 5x210, pb 152-305), ale to będzie tylko pojedyncza jednostka – w stosunku do reszty floty pruskiej (a wkrótce - niemieckiej) Kazimierz Wielki jeszcze przez kilka ładnych lat będzie prezentował się całkiem okazale..

Flota polska w XIX w. - korweta szkolna



W połowie lat 60-tych nasz pierwszy okręt – żaglowy bryg szkolny Gryf jest już jednostką wiekową, wyeksploatowaną (ćwierć wieku dla czysto drewnianego i nieduże okrętu to zaawansowany wiek) i zdecydowanie wymaga wymiany na nowy okręt. Postanowiłem go zastąpić niezbyt dużą korwetą parowo-żaglową. Przewiduję, że nowa jednostka będzie w czasie pokoju być okrętem szkolnym, a na wypadek wojny – może z powodzeniem pełnić funkcję okrętu bojowego. Oczywiście, nie przewiduję walki z głównymi siłami wroga, ale do mniej wymagających, drugorzędnych działań (np. zwalczanie żeglugi) nasza nowa korweta nadała by się całkiem dobrze.

Flota polska w XIX w. - pancernik wieżowy



Pojawiła się pewien czas temu, przy okazji prezentacji monitora uzbrojonego w dwa działa 170-funtowe  propozycja budowy podobnej jednostki, tyle że dwuwieżowej. Postanowiłem rozwinąć ten pomysł, czego efektem jest poniższy okręt. Jest to pełnomorski (choć niezbyt duzy) pancernik wieżowy, uzbrojony w 4 odprzodowe gładkolufowe działa 170-funtowe. Już pierwszy rzut oka zdradza jego pokrewieństwo do faktycznie istniejących jednostek – za pierwowzór posłużył bowiem peruwiański Huascar, którego nasz okręt jest wydłużoną wersją (nie ukrywam, że rysunek Huascara posłużył za podstawę do mojego rysunku), ale też widać podobieństwo do brytyjskich okrętów wieżowych Scorpion i Wivern, budowanych pierwotnie na zamówienie Konfederacji.
