Brytyjski
"krążownik liniowy" ery predrednotów - czyli duży i szybki krążownik
pancerny, uzbrojony w artylerię główną kal. 305 mm, jako odpowiedź na
budowane przez Rosję (Riurik, Rossija, Gromoboj) i Francję (Dupuy de
Lome, Jeanne d'Arc, Gueydon) duże krążowniki pancerne przeznaczone do
działań na liniach komunikacyjnych. Następca niezbyt udanych
krążowników pancernopokładowych typu Powerful, krytykowanych za zbyt
słabe uzbrojenie (2x234) w stosunku do gigantycznych, jak na epokę,
wymiarów (14200 ton wyporności i 164 m długości - najdłuższe ówcześnie
okręty świata). Proponowany krążownik z artylerią 305 mm byłby
największym i najdłuższym ówcześnie okrętem wojennym świata, a przy tym
najszybszym na świecie krążownikiem (nie tylko wśród pancernych, ale i
pancernopokładowych).

Overall survivability and seakeeping ability:
Survivability (Non-critical penetrating hits needed to sink ship):
6 728 lbs / 3 052 Kg = 7,8 x 12,0 " / 305 mm shells or 1,0 torpedoes

Roll period: 11,7 seconds
Steadiness - As gun platform (Average = 50 %): 70 %
- Recoil effect (Restricted arc if above 1.00): 0,20
Seaboat quality (Average = 1.00): 1,39
Hull form characteristics:
Hull has a flush deck
Block coefficient: 0,558
Length to Beam Ratio: 7,72 : 1
'Natural speed' for length: 23,29 kts
Power going to wave formation at top speed: 49 %
Trim (Max stability = 0, Max steadiness = 100): 50
Bow angle (Positive = bow angles forward): -13,00 degrees
Stern overhang: 9,51 ft / 2,90 m
Freeboard (% = measuring location as a percentage of overall length):
