Flota japońska w XIX w. - cz. IV - 17.09.2011

Dziś prezentuję jeden okręt - niezbyt dużą, za to szybką fregatę. W końcu lat 90-tych XIX w. byłby to jeden z najszybszych okrętów, nie tylko tej klasy, na świecie.

Myoko, japanese frigate laid down 1868 (Engine 1869)

    Hull, fittings & equipment: 1 177 tons, 36,1%
    Fuel, ammunition & stores: 479 tons, 14,7%
    Miscellaneous weights: 267 tons, 8,2%

Overall survivability and seakeeping ability:
Survivability (Non-critical penetrating hits needed to sink ship):
      620 lbs / 281 Kg = 5,4 x 7,0 " / 178 mm shells or 0,2 torpedoes
Stability (Unstable if below 1.00): 1,46
    Metacentric height 2,8 ft / 0,9 m
    Roll period: 11,0 seconds
    Steadiness    - As gun platform (Average = 50 %): 49 %
            - Recoil effect (Restricted arc if above 1.00): 0,34
    Seaboat quality  (Average = 1.00): 0,97

Hull form characteristics:
    Hull has a flush deck
    Block coefficient: 0,533
    Length to Beam Ratio: 5,63 : 1
'Natural speed' for length: 15,71 kts
Power going to wave formation at top speed: 52 %
    Trim (Max stability = 0, Max steadiness = 100): 50
Bow angle (Positive = bow angles forward): 26,00 degrees
    Stern overhang: 0,00 ft / 0,00 m
Freeboard (% = measuring location as a percentage of overall length):
       - Stem:        14,86 ft / 4,53 m
       - Forecastle (20%):    12,96 ft / 3,95 m
       - Mid (50%):        12,96 ft / 3,95 m
       - Quarterdeck (15%):    12,96 ft / 3,95 m
       - Stern:        13,32 ft / 4,06 m
       - Average freeboard:    13,14 ft / 4,00 m
Ship tends to be wet forward

Ship space, strength and comments:
Space    - Hull below water (magazines/engines, low = better): 175,5%
        - Above water (accommodation/working, high = better): 82,6%
Waterplane Area: 7 192 Square feet or 668 Square metres
Displacement factor (Displacement / loading): 67%
Structure weight / hull surface area: 106 lbs/sq ft or 519 Kg/sq metre
    Hull strength (Relative):
        - Cross-sectional: 0,92
