Gdyby Francja miała swojego Fishera (albo chociaż Brina), to
może powstałby u nich taki okręt (a budowali oni sporo oryginalnych czy
dziwacznych jednostek). Nazwałem go sobie „niszczycielem pancerników”. Pomysł
jest taki, żeby wyposażyć okręt w dużą ilość stosunkowo szybkostrzelnej
artylerii, o niekoniecznie dużym kalibrze. Artyleria ta ma w zamyśle zdemolować
nadbudówki czy urządzenia kierowania ogniem przeciwnika, niekoniecznie zaś go
topiąc czy nawet przebijając jego pancerz burtowy. Jednocześnie własny pancerz
jest ograniczony (poza wieżami i stanowiskiem dowodzenia) do ochrony
przeciwodłamkowej – tak by w razie trafienia nie aktywował zapalników pocisków
przeciwpancernych. Idąc do boju trzeba więc mieć nadzieję, że własna artyleria
zdemoluje przeciwnika, zanim on zrobi to samo z nami.. Jeśli to się nie uda, to
będzie kiepsko, słaba ochrona jest poważną wadą takiej koncepcji, ale miałem po
prostu ochotę na coś oryginalnego i nieszablonowego. I oto efekt:-)
