Tak się zastanawiam, czy ciężki krążownik musi być
koniecznie szybki? Czy nie poświęcić trochę z szybkości na rzecz pancerza?
Oczywiście żeby miało to jakikolwiek sens, nasz krążownik musi być przynajmniej nie wolniejszy od
wrogich pancerników. A tych w latach 20-tych nie było tak znowu wiele – oprócz
brytyjskich KL były jeszcze tylko jednostki japońskie. Tak więc może
Brytyjczycy właśnie mogli by się pokusić o taki okręt, z zastrzeżeniem że nie
będzie on wysyłany na daleki wschód;-) Żeby nie wpaść w łapy któregokolwiek z pozostałych
pancerników, prędkość na poziomie 27 w. wydaje się być wystarczająca. Za to
mamy dość solidne opancerzenie i to w traktatowym limicie 10.000 ton standard.
Oczywiście, w takim układzie nie pogonimy za wrogimi krążownikami – ale to
możemy spokojnie zostawić krążownikom lekkim, a nasz krążownik będzie – tak jak
to w rzeczywistości było – substytutem nowych pancerników..
