Normandie i Lyon - 22.03.2010

Francuzi, odmiennie od wszystkich innych dużych flot, w czasie pierwszej wojny światowej nie szli w kierunku zwiększenia kalibru artylerii, tylko ilości luf. Niezbudowane okręty typu Normandie (pozostałe: Flandre, Gascogne, Languedoc, Beran) i Lyon (pozostałe: Lille, Duquesne, Tourville) miały mieć odpowiednio 12 dział 340 mm w trzech wieżach i 16 (!) dział 340 mm w czterech wieżąch czterodziałowych - to istotne novum w dziedzinie konstrucji okrętów, zrealizowane dopiero przy okazji budowy Dunkerque i Strasbourga (no chyba że zrealizowali by jescze wcześniejszy - z 1913 r. - projekt krązownika liniowego mającego mieć 12 dział w trzech wieżąch). Trudno powiedzieć jakby się spisały takie konstrukcje w starciu z okrętami wroga wyposazonymi w niej, ale za to cięższych dział? Przynajmniej w konfrontacji z potężnie opancerzonym brytyjskim N3 nie widziałbym ich w roli faworytów. Z innymi - pewnie mogło by być różnie..
